Brown Mountain Lights

“But then one night, when he heard her screaming, he ran in and says he saw the boy from the painting crawling into his daughter’s room. When he screamed the boy thankfully disappeared. And he put the painting in storage.”

Dan starts with a different angle this week by exploring the world of haunted paintings. It’s a totally new space to explore and a really fun and interesting space to find new spoops. Then in his second telling, Dan shares many shared accounts of the Brown Mountain Lights. Lynze has a lot of questions which is really what all of these people have. These mysterious lights are inexplicable and have been going on for years. They are just so bizarre. In Lynze’s half of the show, she focuses in on just one story, instead of her usual two or occasional three. A lifetime of hauntings that start when a boy moves in with his grandparents. Like all good hauntings, it starts off slow until he can’t take anymore. This cycle seems to repeat its self a few times in his life. Another time he sees himself sleeping next to his girlfriend. Astral projection? Doppleganger? Lucid dream? You decide! This happens yet again. Finally, he has enough and tries to get rid of what has followed him for all of these years. Does it work?

Bad Magic Third Annual Giving Tree Info:This year marks the 3rd annual Bad Magic Giving Tree! Over the last 3 years, we have taken what would be the monthly donation for a charity and kept it in our Bad Magic family. The first year, we only had the donation money. Then last year, the fans wanted to help. Dan and I offered to match the total amount donated, which was maybe a bit insane, as the fans donated over $18,000. Lynze and I also donated more than $18,000, plus the $11,000 from Timesuck’s Patreon and we had over $47,000 to spend!
This year, we are excited to announce the Bad Magic Giving Tree once again!  We will be using the December Patreon donation to kick start the fund for this year’s Bad Magic Giving Tree. We estimate we’ll be donating roughly $16,000 from Patreon. As of recording this episode, which is a few weeks ahead of time, the fans have sent in over $4,000. We are well on our way to giving some of you a little bit of love this holiday season.

Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened.  Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH.”
